Which Way Is Up?

I awoke this morning to spend time with my Father God . . . He reminded me that He is the God of Hope as I read the attribute of God for the day. He is Hope when we feel discouraged, depresesed . . . As I was getting ready for the day, I flipped to the next verse in my stack of notecards to find one of my favorites: Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with ALL joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may OVERFLOW with hopeby the power of the Holy Spirit.

At 8:30 in the morning, many frustrations had already begun to get to me and I was praying, well more like crying out to the Lord in the car on the way home from dropping the kids off at school! Without knowing how to put it into words at the time, it was a feeling of “I have been knocked over by the waves of the emotions of life and I don’t know which way is up, . . . but I know You God are with me and I just want to walk in the Spirit with You on this planet – whatever that looks like.”

And the Holy Spirit spoke to my hear…

Freedom of Your Love (song)

It's only You in me
that can chase away the darkness
It's only You in me
that I can soar above
It's only You in me . . .
that walks in light and power
Lord Jesus, I surrender to Your love

Your love
washes over me
Your love
satisfies and sets me free
Your love
beautiful and amazing
Your love is You
Jesus, it's You

So come live in me
and move in me
and walk in me
and breathe in me
Come heal through me
and talk through me
and love through me
and shine through me

Your love
washes over me
Your love
satisfies and sets me free
Your love
beautiful and amazing
Your love is You
Jesus, it's You

Cloud of His Presence - Where is He leading You?

Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. At the LORD's command they encamped, and at the LORD's command they set out. They obeyed the LORD's order, in accordance with his command through Moses. Numbers 9:22-23

I was out jogging the other morning and came around the corner to see another gal out jogging. She was on the opposite side of the road and this sense of wanting to match her pace and even go beyond her pace came over me . . . that is unusual. I'm usually worshipping Jesus, or enjoying be out in the still quiet time of the morning. Clear as could be, the Holy Spirit began to speak to me: Keep your eyes on Me, don't worry about her and where her path takes you. Yes you seem to be on the same road for awhile, but her pace is not to be your pace. You are not called to run her race as she is not called to run yours. And at that moment…

The Shack . . .

A must read . . . a fiction book that spoke to me louder than any other book I have EVER read. I won't ruin the story for you, but will encourage you that you will walk away from this book KNOWING Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit more than you have before.

Here are a few simple yet profound quotes from the book:

We judge all the time, but we should judge as Jesus does which says you’re worthy of love even if costs me everything.Your independence with its quest for power and fulfillment actually destroys the relationship your heart longs for. You were given the 10 Commandments so you would give up trying to be righteous on your own – it was a mirror to reveal how filthy face gets when you live independently. It is the KNOWING that grows and LOVE expands to contain it – love is just the skin of knowing. It should be very freeing to know you can offer us (Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit) nothing. . . that should alleviate any pressure to perform.Life and living is in Him and no other . . proce…

Embracing Jesus

The sun is shining down on her as she walks along in a meadow . . . picking up the most beautiful flowers and setting them in her basket . . . she has a basket in each arm . . . she sees Him in the distance walking towards her and she runs to him . . . she longs to embrace him and tries, but it is very difficult to embrace someone still holding onto baskets of beautiful flowers in your arms. These flowers are lovely and it is not wrong to savor the beauty of them; but she sees that she must set them down to fullyembrace Jesus. He is what it is all about!

The Holy Spirit has a way of confirming things. This message was spoken in two different ways on the same night: Jesus shows up in ways that you hadn't seen him before or that are different from yesterday and you can't hold on so tightly to yesterday that you're not able to embrace Him and what He has for you today or how He shows up today. So what do you do with that? You have to set your mind on one thing. This one thing …

New Growth after the Fire

The soil is fresh and ready for new growth, rains have watered the thirsty land . . . and there is the start of new life; small, yet promising to be a mighty tree one day. A pillar of strength, a tower of shade, a refuge for the birds of the air, full of seedlings to pass on to start more new life . . .
If only you could have seen the devastation before . . . the soil was tender, torn up, but the burnt ground has prepared the way for NEW LIFE!

Does the soil of your heart feel torn up in a certain area where God is teaching you through trials and testing? Do you remember that God made and fashioned you - that He is good and does good? What you are walking through is being used to teach you. Look how Psalm 119 shows us how we are to learn, to give thanks, and delight in law. It says "remember Your word to Your servant, for you have given me hope - my comfort in affliction is that your word has quickened me . . . You are my portion, O Lord I promised to obey . . . I entreat Your fav…

Wonder of My Love

“We should simply develop an attitude of faith, hope and love . . . He isn't impressed so much with the dimensions of our work as with the love in which it is done . . . Many things are possible for the person who has hope. Even more is possible of the person who has faith. Still more is possible for the person who knows how to love. But everything is possible for the person who practices all three virtues.” (Practice of the Presence by Brother Lawrence) 1 Corinthians 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. John 15:14 Greater love has no one than this . . . that a man lay his life down for his friends. Christ overcame many things; they held no power over him because He knew and accepted who he was in God. He is perfect love and He loves us perfectly. I love you – I love you – I love you I created you and I KNOW you a knowing of you deeper than anyone on earth I know ALL the days ordained for you I formed you . . . I saw you in the se…

Promise of God's Rest

The definition of rest is being settled with finality, victory, security, cease from exertion, bring to completion

"our faith is too weak – instead of letting faith rule our lives – what do we let rule our lives? If we really believe, and then act on the fact that He is wonderful, beautiful, glorious, matchless in every way – how transforming! Hebrews 4 encourages us to mix the message with faith – that the promise of entering His rest still stands so let us be careful that none fallen short – some enter, some do not because of unbelief (which is disobedience) . . . He who enters rest ceases from his own works as God did so let us make every effort to enter that rest, lest we fall away because of unbelief. . all things are uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him with whom we have to give account (the awake from verse above in Psalm uses it in conjunction with uncovered and laid bare) God uncovering what is in your mind, will and emotions. “Because of trust in God’s care, wh…

Here in Your Presence

Here in your presence, we are undone. Here in your presence, heaven and earth become one. Here in your presence – all things are new. Here in your presence – everything bows before You… these are words from a song by Desperation Band . . . Brother Lawrence says to “Recognize God as being intimately present within us” (wherever you are), “and you will form the habit of continuously conversing with God. Then your only happiness will come from doing God’s will – whether pleasure or pain. You will become faithful in dry times or not, in actions and renouncing of self. Guard our souls” (mind, will, emotions) “to succeed in giving ourselves to God as much as He desires . . . when we are willing to accept God’s help and guard our souls according to His desires, we may commune with him whenever we like.” In Psalm 57:7-8, David cries out to God: My heart (centre) is fixed, my heart is steadfast. Awake (raise up, stir up) my soul (mind, will, emotions) . . . he is telling his soul (mind, will, …

Snails, Trails and the Secret Place

Snails . . .
Just out for a Saturday morning jog; worshipping God while listening to my iPod. Looking down I see shiny little trails along the edge the sidewalk. The sidewalk borders a business with lush landscaping in front. We have always commented how beautifully kept the place is . . . almost like a garden. As the sun hits the sidewalk, the shiny trails are bright and iridescent - a few here and there, some places more trails than others. Some trails are close to the edge and some go all over the place but they all lead back to THE GARDEN. Imagine if the whole sidewalk were filled with these trails. How shiny and reflective and bright!

What do I have in common with a snail . . .
It becomes all so obvious to me. We like snails, get our nourishment from the garden. They must have nourishment to leave the shiny slime trail. And while most gardeners would think a snail a pest as he eats the beautiful plants and flowers, God beckons us to His garden to eat. To spend time alone with Him. T…

I Want to Love like You

I just wanna see what you're seeing
I just wanna hear what you're hearing
I just wanna say what you're saying
I want to love like you

I just wanna do what you're doing
I just wanna go where you're going
I just wanna feel what you're feeling
I want to love like you

Teach me how to walk in your ways
Reveal to me your marvelous glory
O Lord, go among us

Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."JOHN 5:19
I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. JOHN 8:28
I am telling you what I have seen in the Father's presence, and you do what you have heard from your father. JOHN 8:38
For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say." JOHN 12:49-50

Come Away my Beloved - a love song to the Bride of Christ

Come away, come away, come away with me
Come away, come away, come away with me
Come away, come away, come away with me

I'm beckoning you to the secret place
For it's you I long to embrace
In the garden where the fire of My love will blaze
Your eyes have been caught by My longing glaze

Meet with me
I'm calling for you
Be with me
I'm waiting for you

Lay it down before me
every care and every worry
There is nothing but pureness in My presence
You are betrothed to me
in righteousness and mercy
Consume yourself with Me

Hunger & Thirst for You

You have been thirsty and nothing on earth would quench the thirst . . .
You have hungered and been hungry and nothing would satiate (satisfy) your appetite . . .
because what you really hunger and thirst for is righteousness (Matthew 5:6)
I AM your righteousness
I AM the bread of life
Eat of me and be filled
Do the will of my Father - this is how you will be filled and satisfied beyond any earthly feeling of fullness
Drink of me - my suffering . . . and my living water
It quenches the deepest thirst of your soul . . .
How I long to dwell in you
To have a place of habitation
A place I call 'home'
Taste and see that I, the Lord, am good (Psalm 34:8)

What are you thirsty for? What are you painfully conscious of your need for things by which the soul is refreshed, supported and strengthened? "The Holy Spirit and the bride (church) say Come! Let everyone come who is thirsty (painfully conscious of his need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported and strengthened). Who…

Refreshing Rain - the Wilderness Experience

Paul Keith Davis says "For the Bride of Christ to be identified with the Bridegroom, she must also know something of the wilderness. The Holy Spirit has been alluring us into the wilderness so that He can speak tenderly to us and to the issues of our hearts. From this place we emerge with God's anointing and the power of His Spirit."

Noah did all that the Lord commanded . . . Noah went into the ark and the LORD shut him in . . . and the fountains of deep were broken up and the heavens opened . . . it rained for 40 days and 40 nights . . . And all the high hills that were under heaven were covered up . . . And all that was in dry land died . . . all of flesh wherein is the breath of life was no more. . . GENESIS Chapter 7

The Holy Spirit has illuminated the "wilderness experience" in the story of Noah and the ark as I read it last week. Here was Noah, who had found favor in the sight of God, for Noah walked with God. Yet the land that Noah lives in is filled with…

The Bleating Sheep - Psalm 23

A baby sheep, lying alone in a deep ravine, barely able to cry out for help. Thistles, thorns and briars are all around. Who knows what is lurking, waiting to pounce, where the sheep cannot see. The walls of the ravine are steep, there is no way out . . . save One.
The Good Shepherd comes into the ravine to rescue him. He lovingly and tenderly picks up his lamb, the one He knows, the one He loves, the one He cares for . . . And the Good Shepherd is victorious!

For thus says the Lord GOD: “Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day." Ezekiel 34:11

But I will trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you rescue me. Psalm 13:5 The Good Shepherd's rescue of us doesn't always look like what we imagined. Oh, He is able to do beyond what we imagine and yet sometim…

The Love of My King

"Let me ravish (captivate) you with my love"words spoken by my King, the One I pay my allegiance to, the One I bow down to, the One I worship. May you be blessed as you read of His love for you, His beautiful daughter/son.WHO IS THIS KING OF GLORY? (Psalm 24:6 & 8) that pursues me with his love, And haunts me with each hearing of His softly spoken words. HIS NAME IS JESUS, PRECIOUS JESUS - The Lord Almighty, the King of my heart - The King of glory - Who is this King of Glory . . . He's everything to me(from the song King of Glory by Third Day)When was the last time, if ever, you thought about the meaning of King? Seriously, not a common concept here in America, but the question remains - we all bow down and worship someone or something as our King? Who or what reigns in your life, who or what is really on the throne?KING: supreme; chief authority; perfect, omniscient, omnipotent being; One who reigns; sole and absolute ruler; having supreme rank, power, authority; u…
